We are proud of the fact that we are one of the most trusted providers of commercial PAT testing in Cornwall, Manchester and throughout the UK. We are a registered NICEIC contractor with a team of highly trained and fully qualified engineers, so everybody who uses our services can be assured of expert workmanship. As well as our PAT testing services, we also offer fixed wire testing which allows us to fully safeguard your premises against the risks of malfunctioning electrical installations.
Fixed wire testing, otherwise known as an Electrical Installation Condition Report, is simply testing and reporting the condition of a property’s electrical installation. It highlights any issues in the installation and any deviations or defects in the electrical systems, in concerns to British Standards 7671. Testing ensures that the installation is in safe working condition and that you fulfil all legal requirements, particularly those set out by the Electricity at Work Regulation 1989. The period between inspections is something that is determined by the property and what it is used for, though it may be carried out sooner than when it is required.
Fixed wire testing is fairly comprehensive, consisting of several parts to provide a detailed condition report. A visual inspection of items such as circuits and protective devices is carried out, and circuits are tested to ensure that there is adequate earthing. Electrical testing is also carried out to ensure that insulation is adequate. Other types of testing, such as RCD testing, may be carried out where it is necessary.
Fixed wire testing is necessary to ensure that those using the building are kept safe from any risk of electrical systems malfunctioning. Though these tests are usually carried out at certain intervals, such as yearly, they may be carried out for reasons including a change of occupancy, additions or alterations to the property and electrical installation and possible damage, amongst others. Our fully qualified engineers have the experience and the knowledge to carry out complete and trustworthy fixed wire testing and, when carried out alongside commercial PAT testing in Cornwall and the UK, ensures that your property and its users are fully protected against any risks from electrical devices and installations.
